An Evaluation of the Current Group Violence Intervention (GVI) Implementation in Philadelphia

Philadelphia's Group Violence Intervention strategy addresses group member-involved firearm violence through a combination of social services, focused deterrence, and community-driven anti-violence messaging. Despite COVID-19 challenges, the city adapted by using Mobile Call-In Teams for direct engagement, maintaining significant reductions in shootings at the group level. This approach emphasizes innovative opportunities for collaboration between law enforcement and communities, procedural justice, and providing pathways to support for at-risk individuals.
