The goal of Integrated Voter Engagement (IVE) is to build year-round organizations in cities and states that have an organized constituency of people who register to vote, turnout to vote, mobilize others into political activity, and hold their elected officials accountable through issue campaigns and public action between elections. This report analyzes how specific practices affect voter turnout, particularly for low-propensity voters, and studies the impact of organizing on voters’ and volunteers’ sense of agency and political efficacy (which are key determinants of long term civic engagement), how to increase collective capacity to organize across race, gender and other differences, and how to translate the power built during elections into policy change.
