CWWG RESEARCH GUIDE A Tool to Measure Gender Wealth Inequality

Type Policy Brief or Report
Year 2021
Level City or Town, County, State
State(s) All States
Policy Areas Civil Rights, Economic Justice
Measuring the wealth gap for people who identify as women is critical to the development of policy, programs, and services to build their economic security. Yet wealth is more complex than it seems, making it hard to measure. Researchers can use available data to calculate medians and averages, but numbers alone cannot fully describe the disparities in the United States. These data sets do not paint a full picture. Closing the Women’s Wealth Gap (CWWG) aims to help policymakers, private sector leaders, and the public better understand the gender wealth gap and take steps to close it. This guide was developed to provide information that acts as a starting point for policy and change.
