The movement for healthy soils in the US is farmer-driven. To speed up the adoption of healthy soil practices for climate health in the Northeast, it is critical that programs, government, and other organizations prioritize the voices and needs of farmers from small and mid-sized farms. In 2019-2020, the seven Northeast Organic Farming Association Chapters collaborated on a series of Soil Health Field Days with farmers who are leaders and innovators in soil health practices. The report summarizes findings from the “organizing for Soil Health” initiative, a regional soil health project. The report makes recommendations to further build upon farmer practices and create a culture of soil care.
