The rapid expansion of wind energy in rural communities has faced local opposition to renewable energy transformation. There are many federal and state tax incentives offered to encourage the expansion of wind energy, but community members cite concerns with poor processes, inadequate deals, viewscape changes, and the impact on property values. These challenges should be addressed by implementing legal, relational, and policy innovations to engage communities early, transparently, and respectfully. Further research and community engagement were recommended to address concerns about property values, health effects, and local politics.
