Type Policy Brief or Report

Policy Areas Children & Families, Education, Health
There is a great discrepancy between what families need and the affordability and access of what is available. Local elected officials should prioritize early care and education, align supports through collaboration, convene key stakeholders, and educate the public and policymakers to foster support for local action. Children are the future of communities, and their outcomes depend upon municipal efforts to support public health, education, and community development. Examples from various cities illustrate successful initiatives, such as creating joint fiscal agents, expanding access to childcare, and implementing paid parental leave policies.
