The modern manufacturing economy requires highly-skilled workers, however widespread disinvestment in traditional apprenticeship programs threatens job quality. The IMT Registered Apprenticeship (IMT) program offers comprehensive training programs with input from employers, employees, educational institutions, and their labor organizations, tailored to the needs of regional firms. This report highlights best practices for identifying skill requirements and creating training programs that combine on-the-job learning and formal education in basic and specialized manufacturing skills.
