California recently received approval for the Low Income Health Program (LIHP). County-based LIHPs improve access to health services by offering comprehensive benefits to low-income adults who are currently ineligible for Medi-Cal coverage. This brief assesses the projected economic impact of LIHPs in nine California counties. They found that LIHP spending improves economic output and yields significant employment impacts.
