2014 King County Ordinance Ending the Honoring of ICE Hold Requests

Type Ordinance or Resolution
Year 2014
Level County
State(s) Washington
Policy Areas Children & Families, Civil Rights, Democracy & Governance, Economic Justice
Previously, King County had honored all civil immigration hold requests from Immigration and Customs enforcement for detainees by holding adult inmates for additional time after they would otherwise be released from county jail facilities. This ordinance puts and end to this practice, no longer honoring civil immigration hold requests from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement for individuals in the custody of the department of adult and juvenile detention
