This report analyzes the relationship between improvements in children's early health, achievement, behavior, and home environments, and labor market outcomes when they become adults. Results suggest that investments in early childhood that improve these aspects of development can yield sizable economic benefits for adult earnings. However, the magnitude of these payoffs is strongly dependent on the extent to which early program effects are maintained over time.
