Cities face a host of challenges in maintaining their water systems and supplying their communities with clean drinking water, and protecting environmental and human health through effective wastewater and stormwater management. This report is is a comprehensive guide outlining best practices for sustainably operating and financing robust public water systems. Proposed solutions included adopting an integrated water management framework, building community engagement via data transparency and developing authentic relationships with community stakeholders, increasing revenue by implementing impact fees, establishing a stormwater utility, and prioritizing workforce development. Additionally, this report also highlights case studies in which these solutions are being actively implemented.
