City parks and open space improve our physical and psychological health, strengthen our communities, and make our cities attractive places to live and work. This report examines studies on the economic, environmental, health, and social benefits of city parks and finds that many cities do not provide their residents with adequate access to parks and green spaces. It recommends that cities prioritize parks and recreation investment and partner with nonprofit organizations and neighborhood groups to finance park expansion and preservation.
