After the Supreme Court's decision revoking the constitutional right to abortion, many state and local leaders have taken action to preserve access to reproductive care in their communities. This report discusses five trends in proactive reproductive legislation between January and June 2022: passing provider protection bills, expanding permissions for categories of clinicians qualified to provide abortion care, enshrining the right to reproductive autonomy in state law, providing funding for abortion care, and expanding postpartum Medicaid coverage. For each of these trends, this report includes examples of legislation enacted and actions taken across different states.
