The Supreme Court's restriction of abortion access has disproportionately impacted women who live in rural communities, and those who are young, low income, and historically marginalized. This policy brief highlights the risks that abortion restrictions pose to women's health and provides suggestions for local policymakers to support reproductive rights in a post-Dobbs world. It urges cities that have retained abortion access to reaffirm their commitment to reproductive freedom and to provide support for those who travel to seek abortion services. For cities that face reproductive healthcare restrictions, it calls upon leaders to prohibit public money from being spent to restrict reproductive healthcare and to fight for decriminalizing abortion.
