Community Benefits Agreements (CBAs) are legally binding contracts between developers and community groups to ensure development projects deliver benefits to residents. This report examines how CBAs can advance community health outcomes and examines four case studies from California: SunQuest Industrial Park, Los Angeles Airport Expansion, Ballpark Village, and Cherokee-Gates Rubber Company Redevelopment. Local governments can support these agreements by helping to set targets for benefits like job opportunities, affordable housing, green building standards, and other requirements that align with local initiatives.
