Students play a crucial role in elections, thus educational institutions, and local governments should facilitate students' participation in the voting process. This guide recommends that postsecondary institutions help students get registered, establish a communications timeline prior to elections, build coalitions among interest groups on campus, and engage with faculty and administrators to promote voting. It outlines how K-12 institutions help students engage with elections by pre-registering students that are under 18 years old, developing plans to distribute registration materials to students, and establishing voter registration drives. It also includes case studies of both postsecondary and K-12 institutions that have successfully promoted student voter participation.
