The ways in which planners and policymakers have planned our communities have played a central role in creating and perpetuating discrimination that has contributed to growing health inequities along racial lines. This playbook identifies the need for equity in planning processes and provides examples of how communities have incorporated strategies to amend this. Best practices include representing priority populations from the outset of the project, integrating training and capacity-building opportunities for priority communities, and using people-centered strategies to understand neighborhood conditions.
