Progressive cities should embrace redistributive policies and community organizing to increase equality in employment, affordable housing, and public transportation, and mitigate adverse environmental impacts. This report examines systemic inequities and provides progressive solutions including building public housing, implementing rent control, developing land trusts, supporting universal basic incomes, improving transit connectivity and affordability, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It also spotlights cities pursuing alternative urban policies to address inequities and promote community engagement.
