Modernizing Mitigation: A Demand-Centered Approach

Conventional approaches to addressing transportation reduce social interactions, stifle economic activity, and diminish accessibility for residents. This report proposes a "modern mitigation" approach which builds around transportation demand management to make traffic reduction a priority and provides recommendations to achieve this. Best practices include mapping exercises to identify what isn't working in local transportation systems, providing examples of successful projects to educate developers, and having elected leaders set a clear policy agenda with respect to the transportation vision of their city.
