The effect of new technology on workers is often overlooked because it has so far affected marginalized, low-wage workers in the taxi, retail, warehousing, and health care. However, artificial intelligence or AI threatens workers across the income and occupational spectrum. This brief advocates for strengthening worker power in response to developments in workplace technology, and offers policies that can improve collective bargaining processes, strengthen regulations, and enforce existing labor laws.
