As the impacts of climate change intensify, more Americans are being voluntarily or forcibly relocated from their homes. This report explains the climate migration issue for city leaders through background information and case studies from cities that are currently experiencing climate impacts and subsequent demographic shifts. It also offers federal, state and local leaders recommendations on how they can incorporate climate change impacts and resulting population shifts into their municipal budgets, programs and long-term plans.
