Authorized Policing Technology (APT) Act

The purpose of this model law is to ensure accountability, public approval, and transparency, around policing technology. This act mandates that agency obtain written approval by the City Council or designated committee prior to using any new policing technology; that an agency most produce a Policing Technology "Use Report" which describes the use, purposes, and impacts of the technology; and that the City Council or designated entity shall produce and submit a policing technology "Use Assessment."
