Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are vehicles that have some degree of automation in their capabilities. This report highlights some of the positive and negative economic, infrastructural, environmental, and socioeconomic implications of the widespread adoption of AVs. For example, although connected AVs may reduce the economic burden of traffic jams and vehicle accidents, they also contribute to the coming unemployment crisis and exacerbate pollution and congestion problems. Moreover, this report also outlines barriers to the widespread integration of AVs, particularly stemming from ethical and moral considerations.
