Seattle's Secure Scheduling Ordinance provides stabile and predictable scheduling for workers employed by large retail and service firms. The ordinance mandates that employers provide good faith estimates of work hours upon hiring, allows workers to request schedule preferences, ensures at least 10 hours of rest between shifts, and requires work schedules to be posted 14 days in advance. Employers must compensate employees for schedule changes, including additional pay for added or reduced hours, and offer additional hours to existing employees before hiring new staff.
