Many communities face increasing congestion and emissions due to a dependency on single-occupancy vehicles. Progressive land use policies integrate complete street standards into zoning laws and street design to improve efficiency, sustainability, and accessibility.This report proposes best practices for integrating land use and transportation policy with the goal to drive down emissions including, easing housing regulations to reduce reliance on cars, prioritizing street safety to encourage walking and biking, and focusing on accessibility to key destinations.
