This ordinance aims to increase access to affordable housing across Chicago by expanding Additional Dwelling Unit-Allowed areas. This ordinance makes it so property owners in five ADU pilot areas can apply to create one or more ADU(s) on their property. If eligible, property owners that are converting their properties into ADUs pay fees to the Affordable Housing Opportunity Fund, where that revenue is split evenly between the construction and maintenance of affordable housing and the Chicago Low-Income Housing Trust Fund.
