Public transportation provides affordable mobility to millions of New Yorkers but the benefits of transit accrue unequally on the basis of race and income. This report identifies disparities in the affordability and accessibility of New York transit and provides recommendations to improve services. Best practices include lowering train fares for trips within the limits of the city's boroughs, increasing service to railroad stations within city limits, and electrifying rail lines.
