Privatization of school support services shift vital jobs out of the schools and districts held accountable to the community, and into the hands of private third-party for-profit entities. Services such as transportation, school nutrition, and clerical support are critical to the success of students and the school, and private corporations target these services, especially in financially and organizationally vulnerable districts. Insourcing initiatives and policies protect the public provision of school support services and staff to ensure schools can operate smoothly while supporting student learning and well-being.
