Regional Operations: One Approach to Improving Traffic Signal Timing

This report outlines different regional traffic signal operations programs (RTSOPs) which coordinate signal times, increase access to regional improvement funding and provide training and workforce opportunities. These programs can also reduce travel times and delays, provide a mechanism for upgrading and maintaining communications systems, and facilitate public relations and political advocacy. The report also features funding approaches and examples of councils of governments that have established RTSOPs.
