Progressive Local Government for the 21st Century

To ensure that food systems are equitable and sustainable from production to consumption, local governments must address agriculture’s impact on health and the local environment even as they work to improve the availability and affordability of healthy food. Local governments can cooperate with agricultural communities in a win-win for both, and ensure equity in the distribution of nourishing food in their jurisdiction. This is particularly important, of course, for underserved residents living in “food deserts” without easy access to such food.  ProGov21’s policy roadmaps present introductions to progressive Food policy and Land Use policy that can help ensure a sustainable and equitable food system.
